The donations have permitted us the great privilege to serve people in need. Our Saint Joseph’s School in Gagaha India is doing well. It now has more than 550 boys and girls enrolled in it. The village of Gagaha, Uttar Pradesh, as many of you know is in a very poor part of India.
The wage of the overwhelming majority of its inhabitants is less than one hundred and fifty dollars a month or less than five dollars a day. Many earn quite a bit less. Our school caters particularly to those who are very poor. We are very cognizant of the poverty of the schoolchildren.
St. Joseph’s school fees are very nominal. It charges about six dollars a month in tuition fees. If the students require the school bus to pick them up, then there is an additional charge of a few dollars. About one in five students is on scholarship. The annual free Eye camp was held in February 2024. Over the last three decades, it has brought back the eyesight of thousands thanks to the kindness of our donors. The 2024 camp saw three hundred and forty five patients. It restored the eyesight of 139 patients at no cost to the patients. Each cataract surgery cost $42. This small sum included the fees of the surgeon, the fee of his assistants, purchase of preoperative medicines and surgical supplies! Every little bit helps. So, please donate whatever you can spare, we will accept most gratefully. Every single cent of donation is put to good use.
